Residential land development is Aspen Grove’s first love. Our primary strategy is working with long-time landowners to optimize their land’s entitlements and value thereby allowing them to achieve an attractive exit from their land. We are focused on opportunities in Texas’s growth markets that have multiple potential exit strategies. We capitalize each deal conservatively to minimize volatility and be well positioned in a variety of market conditions.

Richard Byrd

Founder

Richard Byrd has 10+ years of real estate experience working across a variety of asset classes including residential communities, self-storage, multifamily, and retail. He has led investments in property and portfolio acquisitions as well as ground-up developments. These investments span more than 30 projects and $350 million in total capital. Richard recently founded Aspen Grove Realty, which focuses on residential developments in the sunbelt region. Prior to that Richard spent 8 years as a development partner with Provident Realty Advisors. Before transitioning into commercial real estate, Richard taught in Dallas ISD as a member of Teach for America. He received an MBA from Southern Methodist University and a BBA at the University of Alabama.
Jack spearheads Aspen Grove’s land acquisition strategy & plays a key role in project execution. He brings six years of development experience to the table, having played a hand in residential, retail, industrial, and data center projects across the state. Prior to entering the real estate industry, Jack graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Molecular Biology. Although he has traded in his lab coat for a hard hat, he still aims to bring an innovative, evidence-based approach to everything he does. When he’s not at work, Jack enjoys volunteering at the Bridge Lacrosse Club & the North Texas Food Bank.
In his current role, Thomas helps lead land acquisitions and execution of residential lot developments. Prior to joining Aspen Grove, Thomas spent 10 years successfully building and exiting a restaurant equipment manufacturing company. As Vice President with Ellis Fibre USA, he focused on product development, manufacturing, logistics and business development. He was instrumental in contract negotiations, due diligence, and the profitable disposition of the business. Thomas earned his BBA from The University of Alabama and his M.B.A with a focus in Finance from Southern Methodist University.
